Do you need to bring people together, draw out ideas, gather feedback, build teams, or create a community action plan?

Debby is a brilliant facilitator, MC and public speaker! She is highly engaging and genuine, utilising a range of innovative and experiential techniques (even a bit of circus!) to get participants moving, thinking and most importantly, contributing.

Recent facilitation projects:

  • Strathmore Neighbourhood Ideas Workshop – Moonee Valley City Council Community Planning
  • Visioning & Team Building – Moonee Valley City Council, Youth Services
  • Community Partnerships Forum – Moonee Valley City Council
  • Debby has a warm and friendly approach that makes people feel at ease and is highly attuned to participants. She is a very engaging presenter. She wants to see more people out there doing it – achieving their goals.

How is Debby taking her facilitation practice online?

“I have recently converted all of my skills development training and facilitation to online zoom workshops and the experience has been really positive. I have been receiving excellent feedback from convenors and participants and I have enjoyed the new approach.

Recently a friend asked me, ‘So what do you do to make the workshops so successful, to keep people engaged?’

I think it’s a combinations of things:

  • The community are receptive to this approach so the energy in the room is open and generous.
  • In preparation for the workshop I still practice my pre-workshop ritual of meditation and preparing the physical space that I am in so it is clean, inviting and ready for participants to enter.
  • I incorporate interactive activities, questions and discussion to keep people engaged in the experience.
  • I make a concerted effort to make eye contact with people and maintain an atmosphere of fun and sharing.
  • It’s amazing how you can still ‘read a room’, even online, but you need to be tuned in.
  • I still reward people with virtual chocolate.
  • I use ‘show and tell’ a lot as a way to introduce physical objects into the virtual space.

My approach to online facilitation is just an extension of my overall facilitation practice. I try to be my true authentic self and the experience is always an invitation to connect with others and learn.”
