DESCRIPTION:The Melbourne Fringe Artist Learning Lab is a full day of workshops\, panel discussions and industry conversations designed for artists who are serious about their practice\, whatever stage they’re at.\n\n\n\n\nBeginners\, mid-career\, and experienced artists and producers (or whatever other hat you may wear) are all invited\, and with three different streams running simultaneously across Arts Centre Melbourne\, you can choose where you need to be. \nBudgeting. Marketing. Pitching. Touring. Embedding access. Audience participation. Workshops delivered by experts from across the independent arts industry\, all in one building\, all in one day. Dip in and out\, bounce between spaces\, or plant yourself in one stream and dive deep. Then\, stick around from 6:00pm for social drinks and a chance to network with industry peers and other artists. \nThis is everything you wished someone had told you about being an independent arts practitioner\, in one building\, across one day. \nPlease note: this event is *not* restricted to participants of the 2026 Melbourne Fringe festival. DESCRIPTION:Artists: Debby Maziarz  \nGot a creative idea but not sure how to put it into words? \nThis fun and interactive workshop will guide you through the basics of applying for creative grants. \nYou’ll learn how to prepare a strong application\, understand assessment criteria\, pitch your project and creative practice\, respond to application questions\, build a project budget\, and prepare effective support material. \nWhether you’re applying for your first grantor looking to strengthen your skills\, this session will help you take the next step in bringing your ideas to life. \nThis professional development workshop is suitable for all skill levels. No prior experience is needed\, and beginners are very welcome. \nAge: 16 to 25 years \nPlease ensure you are within this age range. \nAccessibility (including allergies)\nSignal has two main event spaces. One is on the ground floor with step-free access\, and one is on the first floor with both a staircase and a lift. There will be a quiet space available on the day. There may be background music\, which can be turned down or off on request\, and the lights are dimmable. \nSome events might also use the outdoor area for activities or breaks. The concrete ground is mostly even\, with a raised platform/bench on one side and a walkway on the other. There is no shade for most of the day. We can bring out additional chairs. Tram – 58 to Stop #1 (Flinders St/Queens Bridge St) or 19\, 57\, 59 to Stop #1 (Flinders Street Railway Station/Elizabeth St) or any Swanston Street tram to Stop #13 (Federation Square).\nPlease bring: Some food or money for lunch. There is a water tap\, fridge\, kettle and microwave that you are welcome to use. If you bring food into the building\, we request that it is nut-free.\nArriving: The front door will open at 12:45pm. A staff member with a lanyard will be in the foyer to greet you and tick you off the door list\, as well as showing you where the kitchen and bathrooms are. They will then direct you to the workshop space.\nIn the workshop space: The artist and another staff member will be in the space to greet you. You will be able to take a seat while other participants arrive. The workshop will start when most people have arrived\, or at the latest 1:10pm. The staff member will then do a general welcome and explain some information specific to the workshop\, before introducing the artist.
